Stephen Smiley, MD
Dr. Smiley is a Tri-Cities native who is thrilled to be serving his hometown community. Dr. Smiley obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Washington, and began a career in National Defense. He worked for the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. for five years. He graduated from Duke University School of Medicine in 2018 and became board-certified in Family Medicine.

Why I do not contract with insurance networks:Â
It has been my experience that for addressing primary health concerns and routine preventative care, insurance hinders rather than helps. Quality health care requires a personalized approach that preserves continuity, does not put limitations on treatment guidelines and does not limit appointment times.
Insurance has created an increasing administrative burden both for provider and for patient. By charging a monthly membership fee, I can avoid insurance networks and maintain a smaller patient panel that allows me to be accessible to my patients.
